Before saving a Xiaohongshu note, decide whether you need the video, the photo set, or the title and body text. A cover screenshot alone can miss the useful part: how the opening works, how the images are ordered, and how the author explains the topic.
The Beav Xiaohongshu downloader works through a desktop browser extension. Use Chrome or Edge, install the extension, and follow the installation guide to start the Beav desktop app and verify the connection. This setup is not intended for mobile browsers. RedNote is another name you may encounter for Xiaohongshu.
Open the full note before saving
- Open the note detail page on your computer. If Xiaohongshu asks you to sign in, do so on the platform itself.
- Wait for the video or images to load, then open the Beav extension sidebar.
- Choose an available action for the video, images, or text you want to keep.
- Open the saved file or check the result in Beav to make sure the content is complete.
A link preview is not the full note. If a shared link only shows a preview, open the actual note before trying to save its media.
Check videos, photo sets, and text separately
Play saved videos to check the picture and sound. For photo sets, compare the number of saved images with the note so you do not keep only the cover. When collecting text, retain the title and paragraph order if you want to study the structure later.
The result depends on the media the page provides. Saving a file does not guarantee a watermark-free version, higher resolution, or the creator's original upload. Check the actual file rather than assuming these properties.
Troubleshoot from the page outward
- Confirm the note still opens and its media has loaded in the browser.
- Check that the extension is enabled, the Beav desktop app is running, and the connection works.
- Refresh the note, reopen the extension, and look for the relevant save action.
- Deleted or restricted content may not be available. The extension cannot guarantee recovery of missing media or a higher-quality version.

Turn saved references into a useful brief
For a cafe review, for example, you could separately record the cover idea, the article structure, and questions readers ask. Use your own material or references you have permission to use. Keep the source and add one sentence explaining why you saved each item.
Then choose a cover prompt and create a new cover with your own photos and title. Saving a reference does not grant permission to republish it or use it commercially. Check the relevant permissions before publishing.
